The Desert Botanical Garden offers a myriad of lectures, demonstrations, and workshops on a wide range of subjects including desert landscaping, ethnobotany, natural history, natural crafts, art, photography, children and family programming and desert living. The Garden trails, educational exhibits, guidebooks, volunteer-guided tours and demonstrations help visitors appreciate the beauty and understand our desert environment. For example, The Plants and People of the Sonoran Desert Trail demonstrates how indigenous people in and adjacent to the Valley intimately lived and depended upon various plants in their desert and riverine environments. Understanding indigenous plant/human interrelationships is essential in comprehending how contemporary, technological societies can better live within, rather than displace, their natural environment.
